About Us

Greyton was incorporated in August of 1994. Since then, the founder and director, Nigel Thomas, has created a company that provides a specialist service in the building industry and now a leader in the area of passive fire protection. With many years of experience in the field Greyton has built up a high profile clientele and enjoys an excellent reputation.

The environment created by working in a niche market provides the opportunity to focus on quality and expertise which is delivered by our experienced staff.

Our work is certified to comply with manufacturers specifications and BCA requirements. Greyton is a member of the semi-government CERTIFIRE and FIRAS Quality Assurance Schemes with substantial implementation of AS/NZS ISO 9002 Quality Systems standard. All of the fire rated systems used have been tested to the relevant Australian Standards supported by test certificates, suitable letters of opinion or assessments.

Greyton is a preferred applicator of Promat Australia, Exfoliators, Grace Construction Products, Hilti Australia, KBS and Tyco Building Products. (references are available). We do, however, use materials from a wide range of suppliers with a view to cost effectiveness and keeping test compliance.

Tunnel Speclialist

Greyton has had significant involvement in the latest major Sydney tunnels including Epping Chatswood Rail Link - Haden/AW Edwards Lane Cove Tunnel - Thiess John Holland Eastern Distributor Airport Rail Tunnel M5 Cross City Tunnel Penrith Bus Tunnel Energy Australia SurryHills/Haymarket 132kV Cable Tunnel Project. Only the highest standard of workmanship and technology can be utilised in tunnel construction because of the seriousness of potential fire sources and type of combustion. This was seen in the British channel tunnel fire.

Mechanical & Cable Duct Protection

Greyton is the preferred installer of Promatect mechanical duct systems. This includes products such a Promatect L500, Promatect H and Promatect S. While constructing self-supporting ducts in these products is still not common in Australia, there are some distinct advantages. These systems are fast and efficient and involves only one contractor. There is no need for installing sheet metal ducts first and these products are very resilient. Promatect S for example, has a steel lining on each face and has been hose stream and blast tested. The Promatect H and L500 systems can be assembled off-site and bolted together on-site with fire rated mastics providing smoke and air seals.

Penetration Seals

Greyton can provide solutions for all services penetrations and other penetrations in walls, ceilings and slabs. We use a wide range of products to achieve the required rating what ever the parameters are.

Partitions & Ceilings

There are many companies offering solutions for fire rated ceilings, walls and bulkheads using fire rated plasterboard systems. While Greyton can provide all of these services we also provide a wide range of specialist systems some of which can withstand fires for up to six hours as well as hydrocarbon fires.
